All Things to All People: Sharing the Good News of Jesus (II) (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

Pastor Ken Cameron tells a funny story about people in a Ukrainian apartment building who mistook a scooter for a military drone.  He uses this example to show how easily we misunderstand unfamiliar things based on what we already know. He explains that this is exactly what happens when people today hear old religious words.  For instance, centuries-old church songs about being "washed in blood" can sound scary or confusing to someone who did not grow up in church. Drawing from the Apostle Paul's teachings, the pastor emphasizes that the core message of the Good News must never change.  However, Christians do need to change how they communicate that message so it makes sense to their listeners. To share their faith effectively, Christians must build empathy, stop judging others, and become active listeners.  They need to meet people right where they are in life.  Ultimately, by staying flexible and kind, believers can break down cultural walls and experience great joy as they watch the Good News transform lives.
