Through the Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness (II) (Galatians 5:22-23)

In this sermon, Pastor Ken Cameron explains that goodness is a "fruit of the Spirit."  He emphasizes that goodness is a lifestyle of doing good, not just a nice feeling. He shares a story about a man named Charles who needed a ride and a meal on a Friday afternoon.  Even though it was not convenient, the pastor realized that true goodness means following God's lead even when it interrupts your own plans. The sermon teaches that people are not naturally good because of our "sinful nature".  We are actually "bent" away from doing the right thing and need the Holy Spirit to work inside us to change our desires. The pastor also explains that doing good deeds does not "earn" a person a spot in heaven. Instead, when a person has faith in Jesus, they are changed from the inside out.  This change naturally leads them to serve others at home, at work, and in the church. In the end, the sermon defines goodness as "holiness in action."  By living this way, Christians can show the love of Jesus to the people in their lives.
