Self-control is a key fruit of the Spirit that helps believers beat bad habits. We cannot get true self-control by our own willpower alone. This is because our sinful nature is always fighting against our spiritual goals.
To grow in self-control, people must do three things: Depend on the Holy Spirit, relying on God’s power rather than human strength. Read the Bible deeply, spending time thinking about scripture to stay spiritually strong. Pray honestly, talking to God openly without trying to make deals or bargains with Him.
Hard times act like a refining fire to build good character. At the same time, having close friends who keep us accountable helps protect us from temptation. In the end, the message shows that consistently admitting our mistakes and relying on God leads to a mature life full of peace.
